Poésie pour pouvoir - Boulez 100
With Poésie pour pouvoir, Pierre Boulez was already outlining the spatialized sound architecture of Répons as early as 1958. Two orchestras and a group of soloists interact with fixed electronics, from which the incantatory poetry of Henri Michaux emerges. Reconstructed for electronics by Marco Stroppa, this rarely heard work is presented alongside two masterpieces by Stravinsky and Berg—composers Boulez championed throughout his life. Betsy Jolas, in turn, reflects on “those beautiful years” of the first Aix-en-Provence Festival.
