The fundamental principle of IRCAM is to encourage productive interaction among scientific research, technological developments, and contemporary music production. Since its establishment in 1977, this initiative has provided the foundation for the institute’s activities. One of the major issues is the importance of contributing to the renewal of musical expression through science and technology. Conversely, sp…

Electro-Odyssée invites artists new to IRCAM to discover the possibilities of working in our studios. Audio technology and know-how broaden the expressive power of electronic music. A sonic odyssey for contemporary and experimental music!

A drummer and percussionist trained at the Lyon Conservatory, Lucie Antunes was inspired by the minimalist movement and is a fan of electroacoustics. She tried her hand at experimental pop music before embarking on a career as a director with choreographers, musicians, and performers. Supported by the label InFiné, Antunes explores here the tension and the virtuoso play between real and virtual lutherie.

Can you dance to contemporary music? This question raised by Tovel (aka Matteo Franceschini) led him to push the form of the "classical concert" towards the "dance floor". This new version of Opus plays the constant interaction of the solo cellist with the video and light, elaborated by 1024 architecture. The technique of photogrammetry allows to scan and compose real images— in this case the unfinished constructions of the south of Italy—according to constantly changing points of view.
