Collective Musicale Interactions and New Movements

Discover the Interaction Sound Music Movement team’s work on group interaction.

The availability and spread of networked and web-audio technologies has enabled novel musical possibilities from both artistic and scientific point of views. In this context, IRCAM develops since several years, new tools dedicated at exploring group interaction in musical experiences: from shared listening experiences to performances involving public participation using web audio technologies and nomad platforms (e.g. smartphones and tablets).

Constella(c)tions
Une collection de pièces musicales interactives qui cherchent à mettre les gestes et les interactions collectives au centre de la performance musicale. Tous ces projets sont basés sur les technologies web-audio et mobiles, utilisant les capteurs de mouvement de smartphones pour contrôler la synthèse sonore à travers les mouvements du corps.

Après une courte présentation, le public sera invité à participer à une performance de la pièce
avec Michelle Agnes Magalhaes et l’ensemble Soundinitiative

A collection of interactive music pieces that aim to put physical gestures and collective interaction at the centre of musical performances. All the projects are based on web audio tools and mobile technology, using smartphones motion sensors to control sound according to body movements.

After a short presentation, the public will be invited to participate in the performance of the piece
with Michelle Agnes Magalhaes and the Soundinitiative ensemble

Biotope, a fearful dispositive created for the exhibition La fabrique du vivant (February, 2019 at the Centre  Pompidou) that inhabits and sonically transforms a space through the interactions of population of musical agents

Poly, a prototype of autonomous, portative and connected music boxes dedicated at exploring technical, artistic and scientific ideas
