Alexandru Sima

Alexandru Sima (Romania, b. 1990) began by playing the electric guitar and then became interested in classical music, before studying composition at the National University of Music in Bucharest with Doina Rotaru and Dan Dediu and at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm with Karin Rehnqvist. In 2017, he studied at the Cnsmdp in Frédéric Durieux’s class and in the class on new technologies with Yan Maresz, Luis Naón, Grégoire Lorieux, and Oriol Saladrigues.

Influenced by G. Scelsi, Doina Rotaru, F. Romitelli but also by Aphex Twin, Ben Frost, and Tim Hecker, his music feeds on distortion and imaginary folklore, ritual, and technophony.
