Philippe Leroux

Philippe Leroux belongs to a generation whose approach consists more of a synthesis of the research carried out by their elders than of a break with a given musical trend. " Rather than going from the monad, the cell, to the complex, I start from a plurality of elements and I try to find what is common to them." In a world that offers a vast array of discovered or found objects, as well as multiple ethnic cultures, he is convinced that the principle of proliferation from a single motif no longer corresponds to our perception of sound, and that our musical concern is no longer the object or the material, but the relationship between these heterogeneous elements. He considers "process" as a fundamental principle that embodies this very relationship.
