Jialin Liu

Jialin Liu (China, 1995) went to the Music Middle School Affiliated with the Shanghai Conservatory of Music (SMMS) at the age of 12 and studied composition, piano, and music theory with GUO Liang and LIU Dongmei. Since 2014 has been a Bachelor in composition at the University of Music and Performing Arts Stuttgart with Marco Stroppa and Michael Reudenbach.

His works are inspired by collisions between different facets of his personal experiences: as a traditional calligrapher with several prizes, as a devotee to Chinese history, antique philosophy and literature, and as a composer-developer who tries to approach the new possibilities of contemporary music through the newly enabled paths such as the big data.
