This event echoes the performance The Rise, premiering on Friday September 20 and Saturday September 21 at the Centre Pompidou (8pm).
Prior to the performance of Eva Reiter's opera The Rise, interpreted in international sign language, a researcher and an actress/singer from contrasting yet complementary disciplines (philosophy of deafness, computer science, sound design, live performance, etc.) meet to discuss and investigate.
What creative processes are involved in bringing sign language to the stage? How does the sign language/machine interface enable the creation of a new form of transmission?
To close this Olympic year, we celebrate the “sign” song and its relationship to the body, between interpretation, shared musicality and modeling.
Annelies Braffort CNRS research director, Modeling and Automatic Processing of Sign Language, from corpus linguistics to artificial intelligence.
Emmanuelle Laborit co-director of the International Visuel Theater, actress and songwriter
Nicolas Misdariis IRCAM research director and head of the STMS Laboratory's Perception & Sound Design team

This event is also accessible to the deaf and hard-of-hearing community through the presence of two French sign language interpreters providing simultaneous translation.
