The fundamental principle of IRCAM is to encourage productive interaction among scientific research, technological developments, and contemporary music production. Since its establishment in 1977, this initiative has provided the foundation for the institute’s activities. Happy Birthday, Péter Eötvös!

Concert - Echo Chamber
Edit

The soloists from the Ensemble intercontemporain return to IRCAM's Espace de projection as their former musical director, Péter Eötvös, celebrates his 80th birthday. An evening dedicated to young creation, just like Péter Eötvös himself has always been. Alongside his solo chamber music and a work written in memory of violist Christophe Desjardins, three new works by a very promising young generation. Bastien David, for the first time at IRCAM, explores in Bec et ongles the unruly song of a violin and the possibilities offered by distributed acoustics. Matteo Gualandi pursues his distinctive, nostalgic, and yet futuristic poetry. Last but not least, Sarah Nemtsov, who is closely associated with contemporary poetry and has just entered the operatic world with Ophelia. Her creation, Keter (crown), borrows its title from the Kabbalah, evoking "the most hidden of all hidden things". "I wanted an earthy sound, with dust and dirt, mud, stones, organic matter from a soil other than the one we live on."
