Continuum designates a new approach to the production and broadcasting of live performances with sound enhancement: a continuum between real and virtual stages, between artists and spectators/viewers/listeners of today, and between French technological innovation and cultural productions with innovative formats. This program, which is at the cutting edge of technological research, aims to develop a complete production chain, from capture to final restitution, allowing the creation and transmission of spatialized content to spectators on different listening and individualized interaction platforms, and to broadcast it in different configurations (performance halls, public or private spaces). The targeted functions are experimented and validated through a set of remarkable creations and their commercialization contributes to their democratization.
The Continuum project is coordinated by Ircam, in collaboration with the companies Amadeus and VRtuoz. It is supported by the French government as part of the "Augmented Experience of the Performing Arts" program of the cultural and creative industries (ICC) of France 2030, operated by the Caisse des Dépôts.
