Mauro Lanza

Composer (born in 1975)
Born in 1975, Mauro Lanza studied piano in Venice and electronic music at IRCAM. Tinted with irony, his compositions have always been the result of a continual, growing effort towards an intimate fusion of classical instruments with other, less conventional, sound sources (synthesis via physical models, toy instruments, sound effects, and various non-identified found objects). He likes the lucidity and inhuman character of formalized processes and often works with computer algorithms. An artist-in-residence at the Villa Médicis in 2007-2008 and elsewhere(Fresnoy, Civitella Ranieri, Akademie Schloss Solitude), Mauro has also worked as a teacher IRCAM, McGill University, ESMUC, and UdK. Ricordi, Milan, publishes his music. In 2014, he was awarded the Franco Abbiati award by the National Association of Italien Music Critics.
