The CNM and IRCAM Launch the CNM x IRCAM Inside Project

On March 11, 2025, in the presence of French Minister of Culture Rachida Dati, the Centre National de la Musique (CNM) and the Institute for Research and Coordination in Acoustics/Music (IRCAM) signed a partnership agreement to integrate IRCAM's cutting-edge technologies and expertise into the creative practices of music artists.

The partnership has three main aims:

The creation of a short professional awareness-raising module for artists and technicians, helping them to get to grips with the digital tools developed at IRCAM. Led by IRCAM's teaching teams from autumn 2025, the module will be open to professionals and introduced to the general public in spring 2026. It will be built on exchanges between artistic teams and IRCAM researchers, particularly during short residencies known as “CNM x IRCAM Inside Residencies”.

These residencies will offer artists and their professional teams access to the full range of IRCAM Forum technologies, both for live performance and studio work. They will allow artistic teams to explore IRCAM’s expertise in immersive (or spatialized) creation, hybridization, generativity, and artificial intelligence. The goal is to integrate these technologies into artists' creative processes, opening up new possibilities for music production and performance.

The two institutions will promote innovation in the music industry through the organization of and participation in key industry events, including the IRCAM Forum Workshops (March), IRCAM’s ManiFeste Festival (June)—featuring the Electro Odyssée series—and the Rencontres de l’Innovation et des Transitions dans la Musique (RITM) organized by the CNM in May/June.

About the CNM

The Centre national de la musique's mission is to support and contribute to the development of the music and light entertainment sector. To this end, it provides financial and non-financial support (training, consultancy, publication of works, development of knowledge about the industry, etc.). Support for innovation is one of the pillars of its missions and a key focus of the partnerships it forges.
