Documentary Janus : le troisième monde

A meeting of baroque and electronic music

IRCAM and the Centre de musique baroque de Versailles have joined forces to launch a unique program blending heritage preservation with the vitality of contemporary creation. Four young European composers, all alumni of IRCAM’s Cursus program, were invited to write works for the CMBV Maîtrise, drawing inspiration from the French baroque repertoire of the 17th and 18th centuries.

In 2023, as part of IRCAM’s ManiFeste festival, Janus opened its series of premieres with Split Screen Vestiges by Spanish composer Ariadna Tarrés Alsina. In 2024, two new works were premiered during ManiFeste: La Muë by Lithuanian composer Justina Repečkaitė, and Stabat Mater by Serbian composer Jug Marković. The series ended in 2025 with a new work by Adrien Trybucki, presented at the Royal Chapel in the château de Versailles.
