IRCAM and La Seine Musicale have joined forces for a new program of artistic, cultural, and digital education for children and teenagers
Illustrate a video game character, create the sound identity of an iconic object, explore the world of talking machines, design the voice of a conversational agent, make an improbable musical instrument, create a sonic postcard ....
Recent technological innovations have resulted in the democratization of sonic and digital creation as well as the growing importance of sound in our daily lives. Given this trend, IRCAM—a cultural institution historically dedicated to musical creation and the development of new sound technologies—has decided to take part in a process of transmitting these tools and their current challenges to young people and to the users of the Seine Lab, a new venue for experimentation in the Hauts-de-Seine department.
In association with Le Cube for this first year, 7-15 year olds will be able to experiment and appropriate these tools through five innovative educational workshops. These workshops will also give them the keys to become actors and designers of creative and sound objects, to apprehend the technological mutations in progress such as conversational agents or sound processing, to develop the acquisition of a digital culture and creativity in front of machines and software. They also intend to raise the awareness of young participants to digital textuality and related issues such as the reappropriation of human-machine interaction.
