The fundamental principle of IRCAM is to encourage productive interaction among scientific research, technological developments, and contemporary music production. Since its establishment in 1977, this initiative has provided the foundation for the institute’s activities. One of the major issues is the importance of contributing to the renewal of musical expression through science and technology. Conversely, sp…

Tscherkassky, Man Ray : cinéastes

Edit

The radical criticism of narrative film produced by the Austrian filmmaker Peter Tscherkassky is also found in works by one of his eminent predecessors, Man Ray, and his “rayographs”. The film itself, the reworked photogram, become subjects of study, of dreams and nightmares. Dream Work takes place during a period of paradoxical sleep while Outer Space causes the original images to “stutter”. In this evening dedicated to a fantastic, and extremely precise, film universe, the film’s original intention has been modified by musical creations as well as those by Simon Løffler, Clara Iannotta, Ariadna Alsina Tarrés, and Javier Elipe Gimeno; commissioned through the ULYSSES Network and the Belin ensemble, Nikel.
