Brazilian director Gabriela Carneiro da Cunha uses the chemical processes of photography to expose mercury pollution in the Tapajós River. For over 12 years, her wide-ranging Riverbank Project: About Rivers, Buiúnas and Fireflies has amplified the testimony of rivers in crisis—and those who depend on them, human or otherwise. A theater of witness, voice-overs, nature, and revelation, in every sense of the word.
