Rebonds et artifices
For the first time, IRCAM opens its season at the Théâtre de Gennevilliers with a living, destroyed, and percussive stage where electronics, lighting, and musical gesture are tumbled together.
For his creation imagined in the vein of a music video, the young composer Alexander Schubert, one of the most energetic artists of his generation, lights and choreographs a selection of the Ensemble intercontemporain’s soloist’s frozen movements; adaptation of codes from the digital world or machine glitches transferred to the musicians’ bodies. The other works on this evening’s program have been created in relation to a specific instrument: the two bass used by the Turkish composer Tolga Tüzün, a study by the imperturbable and brilliant Enno Poppe, or the ritual of Rebonds by Xenakis for a soloist who is multiplied.
