Kaija Saariaho—special guest at the Festival Présences 2017—worked on a cycle entitled Jardin Secret during the 1980s in which electronics transform instrumental sounds in real-time and contribute to the richness of harmonics. Here, a poem by Arsenly Trakovski, whispered by the musicians, inscribes the poetic element of the quartet in an off-season melancholy in which the music also takes inspiration from the water lilies of Claude Monet.
