For Olga Neuwirth, the idea of Le Encantadas (in reference to the "enchanted islands", the Galapagos as described by the author Herman Melville) is that of "the uncertain crossing of an archipelago: to experience the perception of something that could be part of a whole, but which nevertheless appears autonomous". Through an IRCAM system that allows the acoustics of Venices's San Lorenzo church to be "imported" into any concert hall, the listener is literally installed in an "ark of dreams", starting from this church to travel through space and time, from one island to another, and across the rough seas... San Lorenzo is also the highly symbolic place where Luigi Nono's Prometeo, for which Olga Neuwirth has boundless admiration, was created in the arch built by Renzo Piano. The spatial convolution transforms the here of the concert hall into a lagoon-like, memorial and Venetian elsewhere.
