Game 245 "The Mirror Stage"
Test the principles of Game Theory through musical composition: this is the challenge Austrian Bernhard Lang has faced since 2016. The Mirror Stage takes a step forward by exploring the concepts of self-organisation in the unique context of musical theatre, combining music and choreography. While the texts used are predominantly auto-referential, from Ludwig Wittgenstein's Sprachspiel (language games) to the founding writings of mathematicians John von Neumann and Oskar Morgenstern, the musical discourse of the Mirror Stage turns to the polyphonies of the 15th and 16th centuries. Revisited, these are projected in monumental virtual cathedrals, created using IRCAM's Ambisonics spatialization and made visible by means of a special lighting system.
