The two films Where is My Treasure? (French title: Quand j'étais mort) and The Oyster Princess (French title: La Princesse aux huîtres) mark Ernst Lubitsch's German debut before he left for the USA in 1922.
Martin Matalon, a long-time master of writing for the cinema (Chaplin, Lang, Keaton, Buñuel) and the young American composer Oren Boneh, a graduate of the Cursus program at IRCAM, capture the rhythmic vivacity of these two comedies. Martin Matalon's “delirious Foxtrot” and Oren Boneh's creation enhance the burlesque, satire, and Lubitschian misunderstandings. Energy, dynamics, and incongruity reign on the stage of this film in concert.
