Digital Workshops for Young Audiences

Edit

New! IRCAM is partnering with Maison Pompidou to offer engaging digital workshops for children, teenagers, and families.
Edit

The aim of these workshops is to enable younger generations to experiment with innovation and raise awareness of the major areas of scientific and technological research into sound conducted in IRCAM’s laboratories and studios. Young audiences are invited to immerse themselves in the world of music in cinema with Ciné-sons, experiment with new approaches to storytelling through CoMo-éducation, or try their hand at instrument-making with lutherie numérique.

On the second weekend of every month, from March to July 2026, take your children to explore the alliance between creativity and technology—and rediscover the human–machine partnership.

Workshop program for March

These workshops are run in French.

 Atelier Ciné-sons

Saturday, March 14, 3-5pm. Duration: 2 hours
Children’s workshop: ages 8–12

This workshop reveals the behind-the-scenes of sound creation in cinema through simplified sound design and editing tools. By discovering and remixing iconic scenes from film history, participants play with emotions and experiment with the powerful relationship between image and music.

Family workshop COMO éducation – Histoires en sons et en mouvements

Sunday, March 15, 3-5pm. Duration: 2 hours
Family workshop, story-creation format: ages 6–8

Have your children always dreamed of becoming the characters in the stories you tell them?

Thanks to an innovative technology that transforms gestures and movements into sounds, take part in storytelling by creating soundscapes through body movement. During this workshop, families share a playful, interactive, and collective experience focused on listening, imagination, and body awareness. Discover together a new way of telling and passing on stories—and let children become the actors of the tales they hear.

After an example of an interactive story and an explanation of the system by the facilitators, parent (or accompanying adult) and child duos are invited to create their own story punctuated by sound-producing movements. This workshop fosters children’s creativity and bodily expression while creating a special moment of exchange between adult and child.

mportant: for the family duo format, this workshop takes place in pairs: 1 adult + 1 child. This point is essential for the smooth running of the workshop.

We invite you to let your child experience the workshops independently (with the exception of the COMO Education family workshop) so that they can explore their creativity to the fullest. In the meantime, you can explore La Bataille de la couleur exhibition and take some time for yourself!
