The fundamental principle of IRCAM is to encourage productive interaction among scientific research, technological developments, and contemporary music production. Since its establishment in 1977, this initiative has provided the foundation for the institute’s activities. One of the major issues is the importance of contributing to the renewal of musical expression through science and technology. Conversely, sp…

50ans de L'Itinéraire - Concert #1 : Mouvements

Edit

The musicians of L’Itinéraire and the researchers at IRCAM share a fundamental vision: explore sound, map it, master its meaning and expression. The impact of spectral music is due to the adventurous spirit of its musicians and the vision of its founders, but also to the parallel revolution in computer music and electronics. 50 years after its birth, l'Itinéraire finds its current vitality through the balance between heritage and creation, as illustrated by these two anniversary evenings.

Mouvements explores the energy of spectral music through several generations of artists, from Romitelli to Oscar Bianchi,  Grisey to Maija Hynninen. Eric Maestri's installation places the spectral repertoire at the heart of the lives of the ensemble's musicians.
