Born in 1962, the Italian composer Stefano Gervasoni studied composition at the Giuseppe Verdi conservatory in Milan. He continued his studies with György Ligeti in 1990 and in 1992, moved to Paris to follow the Cusus program at IRCAM. He continued with a residency at the Villa Medicis, and relocated to Berlin in 2005 through the DAAD scholarship/Artists-in-Berlin program. Since 2006, he has been a composition professor at the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de danse de Paris. Gervasoni has been invited to teach at the Royaumont Abbey, Darmstadt, and in composition classes at Columbia University in New York.
