A spectacular novel that crosses the fates of men and women who came to California to participate in the construction of a gigantic suspension bridge, Naissance d’un pont (lit.Birth of a Bridge) by Maylis de Kérangal is a reflection on the collateral effects of globalization.
IRCAM has adapted this novel to become a sound fiction, both immersive and musical, which brings together actors François Chattot, Marie-Sophie Ferdane, Laurent Poitrenaux, director Jacques Vincey, and composer Daniele Ghisi. This first episode is devoted to the meeting of the main protagonists of the story upon their arrival in a mythical California. IRCAM inaugurates a new collection of "Musiques-Fictions" with this work. This collection contributes to the renewal of the radio fiction genre, by giving full scope to musical composition that goes beyond the simple illustration of the story or dialogue. The listener is invited into an immersive space, under an ambisonic sound diffusion dome, where imagination is called upon by the sonic environment created
