Bertrand Denzler and Jean-Luc Guionnet have been involved in the improvised music scene for many years. Today, they are publishing a "montage" of the interviews they have been able to make, through musical encounters, with some fifty improvisers, offering fascinating insight into the craftsmanship of these musicians: how does one begin an improvisation? What is the role of the instrument? What is involved in playing solo? This encounter will be an opportunity to explore the wide range ideas and practices that can be found in the world of improvisation and establish connections with the work carried out at IRCAM in the research project "Musical Improvisation and Collective Action".
Session led by Clément Canonne (CNRS-STMS) and Nicolas Donin (IRCAM-STMS)
A 30-minute concert by Bertrand Denzler and Jean-Luc Guionnet will close the session
