The Poetry of György Kurtág: Messages of the Late Miss R. V. Troussova

Composed between 1976 and 1980, and premiered in Paris on 14 January 1981 by Adrienne Csengery and the Ensemble intercontemporain under the direction of Sylvain Cambreling, "Messages de feu Demoiselle R. V. Troussova" ("Messages of the Late Miss R. V. Troussova") is a cycle of 2 brief movements based on poems in Russian by Rimma Dalos. The work drew the attention of the international musical community to György Kurtág, who was nearly 55 years old at the time, yet still little known outside his native country. It also brought to light a poet of incandescent intensity whose readership remained even more limited.

Morton Feldman’s Musical Alphabet

With "Rothko Chapel" and "Coptic Light", the ManiFeste festival pays tribute to a profoundly, and genuinely, singular artistic figure: the American composer Morton Feldman, who would have turned 100 in 2026. The form of the abecedary may be the most fitting way to approach the many facets of a body of work that is as coherent as it is uncompromising, an unceasing endeavor to liberate sound and to expand time.

« Détails et retailles: A Sonic Conversation with Jazz by Matisse » by Claudia Jane Scroccaro

Part of a lineage of artists who have created musical environments for exhibition spaces, Claudia Jane Scroccaro takes on a particularly ambitious challenge: the Jazz series, presented in the exhibition Matisse. 1941 – 1954 curated by Claudine Grammont at the Grand Palais. It is a formidable undertaking (and one involving many “cuttings and recuttings”), which the Italian composer embraces with boldness by transposing the tools imagined by the painter into musical composition.

"Encens" by Justė Janulytė

Justė Janulytė’s new piece, "Encens" (Incense), was created on the request of Italian cello player Francesco Dillon, who wanted to create a solo work that resonated with the masterpiece "Advaya", for cello and electronics, composed by Jonathan Harvey (1939-2012) at IRCAM in 1994.

Anthony McCall: Sculpting Light

As part of the ManiFeste 2026 festival, the Centre Pompidou and IRCAM invite Anthony McCall to present a major project, reflecting the deeply intermedial nature of his work. The Espace de projection at IRCAM will simultaneously host four monumental works by the artist, offering a rare experience: an encounter between light and music, in which each human presence actively contributes to the emergence of a shared perceptual space.

Électro-Odyssée : Deena Abdelwahed / Concert

“Diwan Midi” explores Arabic musical structures through the lens of electronic and live music. At the heart of the project is a prototype MIDI qanun developed at IRCAM, which blends traditional instrument-making techniques with digital control. The project juxtaposes Arabic ornamentation and melodic modes with contemporary compositional tools.
