Artistic, cultural and digital education programme for children and adolescents, drawing on the expertise of IRCAM's teams.

Since February 2023, Ircam has partnered for three years with La Seine Musicale to offer a playful introduction to digital tools and to raise awareness of sound creation—two major societal issues for younger generations. Committed alongside the Département des Hauts-de-Seine and La Seine Musicale to innovative cultural and social development, and sharing the same ambition for an accessible, high-quality culture for all audiences, Ircam is working with Le Cube on the creation of the SeineLab, offering a new programme of workshops focused on sound and digital technologies.

A space for experimentation dedicated to sound and digital media, the SeineLab develops a programme of educational workshops for young audiences from the age of 4, as well as for families and school groups. These workshops explore sound processing, sound design and artificial intelligence, drawing on the expertise of Ircam–Centre Pompidou. Through playful and immersive formats, participants are invited to recreate the atmosphere of a submerged city with the sound board game 20,000 Sounds Under the Seas, to discover behind the scenes of film music with Ciné-sons, or to experiment with new forms of interactive storytelling combining sounds, voices and movements (Clouds of Voices, Telling Stories with Sounds and Movements). The programme continues with an immersion into the world of sound engineering through the workshop Panic in the Control Room!, offering an active and creative introduction to sound-related professions.

For ages 4–7
“Clouds of Voices” – From 4 March to 24 June 2026, booking required

A workshop that will awaken your children’s vocal creativity! Let us imagine a world where every sentence and every breath becomes a colour, a shape, a sonic emotion. Together, we will transform stories to be told to your children into live sound creations, in which the participants’ own voices become instruments of creation, giving rise to textures and sonic materials filled with emotion and wonder. These ephemeral and unique sound creations, to be experienced as a family, weave together the voices of parents and children to tell extraordinary stories.

For ages 4–8
“Stories in Sounds and Movements” – narration – From 25 February to 3 June 2026, booking required

Have your children always dreamed of becoming the actors in the stories you tell them? Thanks to innovative technology that transforms gestures and movements into sounds, they can take part in storytelling by creating soundscapes through the movements of their bodies. They are invited to enjoy a playful, interactive and collective experience that plays with listening, imagination and body awareness. In the narration version of this workshop, designed for younger children, participants create the soundscapes of a story told by the facilitators. This format develops motor skills and body awareness while encouraging imagination.

For ages 6–8

After an example of an interactive story and an explanation of the setup by the facilitators, parent (or accompanying adult) and child pairs are invited to create their own story punctuated by sound-producing movements. This workshop develops children’s creativity and bodily expression while creating a special moment of exchange with the adult.
