The fundamental principle of IRCAM is to encourage productive interaction among scientific research, technological developments, and contemporary music production. Since its establishment in 1977, this initiative has provided the foundation for the institute’s activities. One of the major issues is the importance of contributing to the renewal of musical expression through science and technology. Conversely, sp…
IRCAM is an internationally recognized research center dedicated to creating new technologies for music. The institute offers a unique experimental environment where composers strive to enlarge their musical experience through the concepts expressed in new technologies.
In support of IRCAM's research and creation missions, the educational program seeks to shed light on the current and future meaning of the interactions among the arts, sciences, and technology as well as sharing its models of knowledge, know-how, and innovations with the widest possible audience.
At the center of societal and economic concerns combining culture and information technologies, the current research at IRCAM is seen by the international research community as a reference for interdisciplinary projects on the sciences and technologies for sound and music, constantly exposed to society’s new needs and uses.

TS2 is a specialized time-stretch and transposition software based on the SuperVP™ audio engine. In TS2, the sound is represented as a time/frequency sonogram (FFT) that is modified in real-time according to the user's actions. TS2 integrates classic audio editor functions with the possibility of combining several sounds in the same document and of crossfading. The different sound transformations available (time stretch, transposition, remix functions, spectral clipping) can be controlled either by automation curves or directly in MIDI. A Master module allows to finalize the sound rendering thanks to the possible insertion of your favorite plugins (VST2, VST3 and AudioUnit).
Partiels is the new analysis software developed at IRCAM. It includes most of the analyses of AudioScupt 3 (FFT, fundamental frequency, attack detection, bpm estimation, etc.) presented in a new and more responsive interface. The resulting analyses can be exported in text or .sdif format for use in other software like Max or OpenMusic
"Excellent and perfectly conducted training course. Great!" Jean-Claude G., composer and musicologist
