“It’s frozen, and at the same time, it’s vibrating,” Morton Feldman recognized himself in the fourteen monumental paintings by Mark Rothko displayed in the Rothko Chapel, built in 1971 in Houston, Texas. "Rothko's imagery goes right to the edge of his canvas, and I wanted the same effect in the music — that it should permeate the whole octagonal-shaped room and not be heard from a certain distance.” With Anthony McCall’s screenless projections and the singers of the SWR Vokalensemble Stuttgart, the Espace de projection is transformed into an extraordinary chapel.

The concert will be accompanied by an installation by Anthony McCall, open until 11pm.
