Mika Oki

French Composer

Biography

Mika Oki (France, b. 1990) is a French-Japanese sound and visual artist based in Brussels since 2015. Her practice spans installation, sound composition, live performance, and DJing. Trained in sculpture at the Haute École des Arts du Rhin and later at La Cambre, she has developed an approach that treats sound as a sculptural material capable of shaping space and transforming perception.

Through her projects, she explores immaterial, sensory, and emotional landscapes through installations that combine light, smoke, and immersive sound environments. Her work investigates how sound can become a form of affective architecture, generating inner narratives, physical tensions, and collective experiences.

Alongside her artistic practice, Mika Oki is actively involved in independent experimental and electronic music scenes. In 2019, she founded the Brussels branch of LYL Radio and has been a member of the Psst collective since 2015, contributing to the visibility and networking of FLINTA communities within electronic music.

Her performances and DJ sets have been presented at international festivals, clubs, and institutions including MUTEK, Le Guess Who?, Rewire, the Pinault Collection, KANAL-Centre Pompidou, and Lafayette Anticipations.
