Biography

Jacopo Cenni (Italy, b. 1995) is an Italian composer, media artist, and performer. His research explores the relationship between body, technology, and sound through an ecosystemic approach to musical and performative composition. He is currently investigating plant morphology as a model for computer-assisted musical and choreographic composition.


He holds bachelor’s (2021) and master’s (2022) degrees in Electronic Music and New Technologies, from the Conservatorio F.A. Bonporti in Trento, Italy, where he studied with M. Graziani, F. Ortica and F. Cifariello Ciardi. He later attended the Advanced Training Course on Experimental Theatre at Malagola (Ravenna Teatro, Italy).


His works have been presented at venues and festivals such as the Venice Biennale, ICMC Boston, Glasgow Science Centre, Festival Accademia Chigiana, ZiMMT Leipzig, MA/IN Festival and Festival Luigi Nono. The performative and installation dimension of his work also extends into experimental theatre, where he has collaborated as composer and sound and lighting designer with venues including Musik Installationen (Nürnberg), Pirelli Hangar Bicocca (Milan), and Teatro Basilica (Rome).


He has collaborated with performers including Ljuba Bergamelli, Eva Reiter, Florentin Ginot, BL!NDMAN, Zeno Baldi, Alberto Cavallaro, Federico Tramontana, Carlo Sampaolesi, Bastard Assignments, through festivals and masterclasses.
