With regard to its audio component, the ambition of The Island project is to provide a platform for creating immersive and interactive content, equipped with a suite of tools based on the open audio object format ADM, developed by international standardisation bodies (EBU and ITU).The project aims to adopt and extend this format for the development of a set of tools for the creation and dissemination of interactive audio content, ultimately enabling 6DoF (six degrees of freedom) navigation across various immersive platforms. These tools will be designed to align with other creative components (visual, choreographic, etc.), ensuring a high level of interactivity and interoperability.
The project will take place on IRCAM’s premises in Paris, within the Acoustic and Cognitive Spaces team (EAC), which is part of the STMS Joint Research Unit (UMR9912, IRCAM/CNRS/Sorbonne University/Ministry of Culture).
