The Rothko Chapel, which houses fourteen monumental paintings by Mark Rothko, was built in 1971 in Houston, Texas. For this environment of spirituality and contemplation, Morton Feldman premiered his masterpiece of the same name the following year, for mixed chorus, celesta, percussion, and viola. The “Pari de l’œuvre” series of talks sheds light on the sonic, visual, and vibratory resonance between the closely related worlds of music and painting.
