IRCAM is partnering with Maison Pompidou to offer engaging digital workshops for children, teenagers, and families.
The aim of these workshops is to enable younger generations to experiment with innovation and raise awareness of the major areas of scientific and technological research into sound conducted in IRCAM’s laboratories and studios. Young audiences are invited to immerse themselves in the world of music in cinema with Ciné-sons, experiment with new approaches to storytelling through CoMo-éducation, or try their hand at instrument-making with lutherie numérique.
On the second weekend of every month, from March to July 2026, take your children to explore the alliance between creativity and technology—and rediscover the human–machine partnership.
These workshops are run in French.
Composing music to heighten suspense in a film, illustrating a character in a video game, creating the sounds of a dishwasher or an electric car, guiding visually impaired people along a route… In cinema, video games, and everyday life, sound design is everywhere!
Through this workshop, participants learn to listen to, identify, and describe the sounds around them by recognizing the unique sonic characteristics of a character or an object. They then bring these sounds to life using a music-creation learning app.
Imagine building your own musical instrument using a banana, a bottle, recycled cardboard, cutlery, or other reclaimed materials… With digital lutherie, step into the shoes of a musician and take ownership of your instruments during a workshop combining hands-on prototyping, sound creation, and programming.
