A part of the Présences Festival: Tristan Murail
Edit

With Tristan Murail as guest of honor, the Festival Présences highlights an important branch of French creation: the spectral school which revolutionized the vision of sound and the compositional approach. The result of "micro-surgeries" on sound, Murail's L'Esprit des dunes and Désintégrations are presented in the context of the impact left by the spectral wave. Philippe Hurel arrived immediately afterwards and mixed it with a touch of groove. He delivers here a new piece for the clarinet, while Allain Gaussin, a former Conservatory classmate of Murail, composes a chamber work. The young Clara Olivares, finally, accepts the heritage of her elders— most notably by presenting changes in the state of matter through processes of acoustic imitation of electronics—in a score for horn inspired by Baudelaire.
