Portraits of composers in the mirror of three instruments and three exceptional musicians: the double bass player Florentin Ginot, the accordion player Krassimir Sterev, and Jean-François Heisser on piano. For his first work at IRCAM, Clemens Gadenstätter uses the accordion to modify the listening context through electronics. His work uses sounds found on the internet, traces of a cultural experience, and a memory. The electric body of Claudia Jane Scroccaro's piece is that of a double bass player embracing his instrument. To this double bass, Francesca Verunelli adds the accordion. In bianco e nero achieves the exact opposite of mixed music: to bring out the properties of instrumental and electronic sound, difference and autonomy rather than fusion. Finally, the premiere of a work by Yan Maresz that remains a rarity. Solicited for a long time by his friend Jean-François Heisser, Maresz creates this furtive and lively duet for piano and virtual instrument that makes space sound like a physical instrument.
