Agnula
A GNU/Linux audio distribution
Introduction
The AGNULA project is part of the free software development activities supported by the European Commission.
Work Description/Objectives
It aims to promote the PC/Linux platform for audio applications and music professionals. Even if technically speaking, a lot of software components already exist on this platform, there are many problems concerning their coherence, distribution and installation.
The project aims to create a Linux distribution, designed for audio applications equipped with a selection of coherent applications and software components (libraries, drivers) for sound production and professional music users. Based on existing distributions (Debian and Redhat), it will include the low-latency kernel, ALSA drivers, all necessary libraries for programming audio applications as well as a significant collection of audio applications already existing on Linux.
In addition to the availability of applications such as jMAX , IRCAM is more specifically involved in developing Red Hat distribution in association with the French company, Red Hat.
