From Performer/Electronics Synchronization to an Algorithmic Score
By Gérard Berry (Collège de France) and Arshia Cont (IRCAM)
As a part of the Algorithmes, machines et langages conference series at the Collège de France - of Gérard Berry is the Chair – this conference will examine the relationship between the logical time of a score and the physical time of performance, as well as the contribution of synchronous languages to the conception of algorithmic scores that are more general than usual linear scores.
Arshia Cont will present his Antescofo system that follows human performers through sound detection and real-time learning. Antescofo enables automatic synchronization of the electronic elements of a work with the human tempo, therefore removing the fixedness of the pre-programmed electronic parts, making it possible to “perform” the synthesized music by the musicians themselves.
