Spatialization Control ans Spatialized Sound Synthesis
Following recent work carried out on the integration of the processes of synthesis and sound processing in the OpenMusic computer-assisted compostion environment, this project focuses on compositional control of sound spatialization, and more generally on the idea of spatialized sound synthesis (an extension of the notion of the process of synthesis that uses spatialization before and during the production of sounds by synthesis).
New objects have been developed in OpenMusic to represent and manipulate spatial data (primarily positions and 3D trajectories, but also more advanced parameters that describe spatial characteristics such as room effects, the orientation of sound sources, or directivity). These objects can be created and manipulated via graphical editors but also by geometric operators and other functions that offer a great wealth and complexity of specification of spatial scenes that can be connected and determined following the compositional processes developed in the computer-assisted composition environment.
