John Cage Exposition

This exposition in tribute to John Cage features rare documents from the collections of the Médiathèque musicale de Paris, the Bibliothèque centrale des conservatoires, and the IRCAM Multimedia library.

Composer, theoretician, and philosopher, Cage was also a poet, an artist, and surprisingly, a mushroom lover.  To help understand his massive and labyrinthine oeuvre, there are a few landmarks: the prepared piano, sound material, dance, writing, and silence.

The Médiathèque musicale invites you Thursday, September 27 at 7pm for a concert by musicians from the Ensemble intercontemporain - trombonist Benny Sluchin and bassist Nicolas Cross - to illustrate this tribute.
