Michael Jarrell Cassandre (concert version)

When he discovered the stage adaptation of Christa Wolf's novel Cassandra, Michael Jarrell was fascinated by the contrast between the official, heroic, homeric, and masculine version of the fall of Troy and the unique experience of a defeated woman. The action is in the past and therefore looking towards the future proves impossible, like song.

For the performance of this spoken monodrama, this opera without singers, the actress Fanny Ardant is supported by the Ensemble intercontemporain conducted by Susanna Mälkki.

A Cité de la musique, Ensemble intercontemporain coproduction in partnership with IRCAM-Centre Pompidou.
