Mixed Music: Historical Landmarks
Public: Conservatory and association directors and professors
Mixed music is defined as the meeting of electro-acoustic sounds where the sound is emitted from loudspeakers and instrumental sound with the traditional acoustic sounds of a concert.
This musical genre has changed with the successive technological revolutions of the 20th century: music recorded on a magnetic band, analogical electronic instruments, followed by the arrival of digital technologies, the spread of live transformations. This conference takes a look back at these changes through the lens of the different approaches taken by a selection of composers.
These composers included these possibilities in their expressive palette and continuously invented new interactions between machines and musicians. Today, more than 60 years after the first attempts at mixed music, it now questions, more than ever, our relationship with technology. Several examples of musical works will be given, inciting a reflection on this subject.
