Max4Live/Livers: Learn Max in Ableton's Live Environment
Introductory Level
Prerequisite
Knowledge of the Live 8 program.
Upon completion of this course participants will have the skills necessary to modify and create simple modules to hear the possibilities of Live.
Description
This course is intended for participants with knowledge of Live, but have only a beginner's level in the Max for Live environment. The course addresses the basic principles of the Max environment via applications that can be used in Live.
Schedule
Monday and Tuesday: Introduction to Programming in Max
Introduction to the user interface, MIDI objects, live.guilib control objects, creation of MIDI effects (transposition, delay), synchronization with Live, creation of a sequencer.
Wednesday: Introduction to Audio Processing
Introduction to audio processing, creating of processing peripheries: delay lines and transposition.
Thursday: Further Study
Creation of a monophonic synthesizer, oscillators, envelopes, filters.
Friday: Control
Improvement of the modules, external controls, joystick, OpenSoundControl (iPhone/iPad), Live API: control of the internal settings of Live (volume effect parameters, etc.).
Saturday: Hands-On Exercises
From Monday, 13 to Saturday, May 18, 2013, 10am-1pm & 2:30pm-5:30pm / IRCAM
