Casa da Música. Yan Maresz, René Clair

Paris qui dortParis qui dort

A night watchman at the Eiffel Tower looks down onto the city to find it sleeping. He roams around the suddenly paralyzed streets and quarters of Paris.

In René Clair's film, the mad scholar who has decided to freeze the city's movements doubles as an incarnation of the film-maker during the editing phase: the images gaining their sense and speed from arbitrary choices and inventive decisions. To this is added the other "time-movement" art, music. Paris qui dort provokes the virtuosic fluidity of Yan Maresz whose new work for ensemble and electronics will accompany the projection.
