Mathematics, Music, and Other Sciences

This working seminar looks at the relationship between math and music through the links that are created with other disciplines including philosophy, epistemology, linguistics, information technology and the cognitive sciences.

Subjects include: the formalization and representation of musical structures, Set Theory, transformational, diatonic, and neo-Riemannian theories, mathematical methods in theory, musical analysis and composition, mosaics and paving in music, computer music, logic and discussing what can be calculated, cognitive sciences and theories of perception, or even the philosophy and semiotics of mathematics and music.
