Modalys: Construct and Play a Virtual Instrument in Different Software Environments
Introductory Level
Prerequisite
Mastery of the Macintosh environment (OS X), a sequencer software program such as Pro Tools, LogicAudio, and a sound editor like Peak.
Upon completion of this course participants will be able to construct a simple virtual instrument and interact with it in the Modalys environment and in Max. The use of Modalys as a synthesizer in OpenMusic will also be addressed.
Description
Following an introduction on the different methods used for synthesis through physical modeling, participants will take their first steps with Modalys and the software's range of graphical interfaces:
- construction of a string instrument
- construction of a reed instrument
- construction of a bowed string instrument
- using Modalys in real-time with Max (object Mlys)
- construction of 3D objects
- construction and control of an instrument in OpenMusic.
From Friday, 19 to Sunday, April 21, 2013, 10am-1pm & 2:30pm-5:30pm / IRCAM
