Presentation

Through the musical research residency program, the department at seeks to develop IRCAM's original interactive exchange between the research and artistic communities. The program provides grants to international researchers and artists, young professionals and scholars wishing to expand their musical research experience and undertake their research projects in computer music at IRCAM.

Each year, a number of candidates will be nominated through a selection procedure involving international experts. The evaluation is entirely based on research and musical motivation, as well as the quality of the proposed project through the online call for proposal. Upon nomination, each candidate will be granted a residency at IRCAM during a specific period and in association with a team/project at IRCAM, and will receive a per-diem of approximately 1000 Euros per month to cover expenses in France. IRCAM provides neither housing, nor travel expenses.

During the residency program, the nominees will have access to research facilities at IRCAM during the specified period to undertake their personal project. Candidates will become accustomed to collaborative projects with the IRCAM research laboratories concerned with the proposed project, and can take advantage of the musical and intellectual activities at the institute.

Upon the completion of the residency period, scholars are required to document their work in the form of research reports including any medium (sound and/or video) that can best disseminate the results within the international computer music community.
