2 Web Development position

2 Web Development position (JavaScript - Multimedia) and/or Signal Processing (M/F). CSD full-time in 18 months from June 2013.

The R&D project WAVE ("Web Audio View / Edit" program restrained from ANR), coordinated by IRCAM in a consortium with Universal Music Publishing Classical France, Eurecom and Vi-live, aims at making available novel tools for audiovisual representation, gestural interaction, and social interaction using W3C standards (JavaScript, Web Audio API, HTML5, Media Fragment...). In this context, Ircam recruits two Web Developers (M/F) in the Analysis of Musical Practices and Real-Time Musical Interactions research teams. One of the positions concerns the graphical user interface and the other motion capture and audio processing.

Position Description

Under the supervision of the project coordinators, you will be in charge of developments related to the tasks graphical interfaces and/or interactive audio processing interfaces as well as new interaction interfaces, which aim at developing HTML5/JavaScript components to navigate, represent, create and interact with multimedia content
(sound, video, musical performances, data capture motion...).

  • Development of graphical user interfaces (depending on the position)
  • Development of motion capture and interactive audio processing (depending on the position)
  • Porting of existing C/C++ libraries to JavaScript (depending on the position)
  • Close collaboration with the other project partners
  • Documentation of the developed functionalities and components
  • Integration of the developed components into prototypes and pilot applications
  • Observation and following the development of emerging standards and technologies (Media Fragment, Web Audio
    API, HTML5)
  • Participation in formalization, publications and project deliverables
  • Creation and management of communities related to the project developments (websites, blog, wiki, Github).

This position involves collaborations with project partners, both functional and technical.

Required Experiences and Skills

  • Graduate Engineer, IT specialization, minimum two years of experience
  • Autonomy, rigor and precision in the development
  • Interest in open and accessible web technologies
  • Accustomed to agile software development
  • Required business English
  • JavaScript, library / framework / utilities / formats (Angularjs, PhoneGap, CoffeeScript, JSON, nodejs...)
  • Experience in graphical user interface development and/or interactive audio processing
  • OOP and Design Pattern
  • Understanding of W3C standards (HTML5, CSS3, Media Fragment, Web Audio API...)
  • Implementation unit tests and integration
  • Code optimization
  • Knowledge of other programming languages (Python, C / C + +, Java, Objective-C...)
  • Knowledge of Git/SVN, or other DVCS.

Large-Scale Audio Indexing Researcher / Engineer

IRCAM is hiring a full-time researcher/engineer for an 18-month contract beginning in March 2013.

Position description

The hired Engineer/Researcher will be in charge of the development of the framework for scalable storage, management and access of distributed data (audio and meta-data). He/she will be also in charge of the development of scalable search algorithms. She/he will be required to participate in all activities related to the project (evaluation, meetings, specifications).

Required Experiences and Skills

  • High skill in database management systems
  • High skill in indexing technologies (hash-table, m-trees, etc.)
  • Good knowledge of Linux, Windows, MacOS environments
  • High productivity, methodical works, excellent programming style

Introduction to IRCAM

IRCAM is a non-profit organization that is associated to the Centre Pompidou (Centre national d’art et de culture Georges Pompidou). Its missions comprise research, production, and education related to contemporary music and its relation to science and technology. Within the R&D department specialized teams are conducting research and development in the areas of acoustics, sound signal processing, interaction, computer music and musicology.

Large-Scale Audio Indexing Researcher/Engineer

IRCAM is hiring a full-time researcher/engineer for an 18-month contract beginning in March 2013.

Position

The person hired will be in charge of the research and development of scalable technologies for supervised learning (i.e. scaling GMM, PCA or SVM algorithms) to be applied to millions of annotated data. He/she will also be in charge of the application of the developed technologies for the training of large-scale music genre and music mood models and their application to large-scale music catalogues. She/he will be required to participate in all activities related to the project (evaluation, meetings, specifications).

Required Experience and Skills

  • High skill in audio indexing and data mining
  • Previous experience into scalable machine-learning models
  • High skill in Matlab programming, skills in C/C++ programming
  • Skill in audio signal processing (spectral analysis, audio-feature extraction, parameter estimation)
  • Good knowledge of Linux, Windows, MacOS environments
  • High productivity, methodical works, excellent programming style
