Introduction

The goal of this project is to produce a DVD on demand system, using video DVD format. It is based on a distributed database, giving the user access to local and distant resources and complemented with a localization, identification and digital item description system, which is developed in accordance with standards in the field (DOI®, MPEG7, MPEG21).

Work Description/Objectives

The user will be able to access a system enabling him/her to browse the database and compile a video DVD made up of all items he/she chooses. Copyright management functions on the basis of the same distributed database system as well as the principle of "third party trust" already used in previous developments.

The current standards (MPEG21) will be taken into account according to their availability. IRCAM is responsible for the front office side to the project (access to resources and metadata) and MPO will take care of the back office side (production management, fabrication).
